Topic: “More Than One Way to Cash a Check” This interactive workshop will focus on short-form fiction and nonfiction as a way of generating added income. We’ll explore how a single subject can be reworked and recycled into more than one article. Bring your thinking cap and a list of topics that you’re passionate about.

Sherry Shahan has 40 children’s books to her credit, fiction and nonfiction, preschool through young adult.

She’s best known for her middle-grade adventure novels featuring female protagonists: Frozen Stiff (Random House/Yearling), Ice Island (Random House/Yearling) and Death Mountain (Peachtree). She’s sold hundreds of articles and short stories to magazines, newspapers, literary journals, and anthologies.

Sherry earned an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts and taught a creative writing course for UCLA Extension for 10 years. * To Learn more about Sherry, visit

The COST for this online event with Sherry Shanan is: $15.00 for SCBWI members and $30 for nonmembers. 


This event will be ONLINE. The recording will be available approximately 24 hours following the event and will remain accessible for 2 weeks following the event.

Refund Policy: No refund will be given for online events as attendees will be able to view the recording for two (2) weeks following the event.

Minor Policy: Minors under the age of 18 are not allowed at events. By registering you affirm you are 18 or older.

Recording Policy: Attendees are not allowed to videotape the event. The webinar portion will be recorded by CenCal and made available to all registered participants within approximately 24 hours following the event. It will be accessible for 2 weeks.
